(Manmohan Singh)

Gold rush hits Uttar Pradesh: Archaeologists drill for buried treasure after
godman dreams of 1,000 tonnes of gold hidden beneath abandoned palace

Experts from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) have reason to believe
there might be a hidden treasure near the palace of 19th century king Rao
Ram Baksh Singh, in Daundia Khera village in Unnao district. A team of
experts visited the area on Sunday and drilled two holes at a point shown
by Swami Shobhan Sarkar, the seer who dreamt about 1,000 tonnes of gold
buried underneath the palace. About 20 metres deep, the drilling machine
hit something that seemed different from earth.

Baba's economic concern
While the villagers are looking for gold, the seer is only worried about the
"collapsing economy of India," which compelled him to write a letter to the
Prime Minister and the Governor of Reserve Bank of India about the
"hidden treasure".

"I cried the day I realised that India is going to collapse economically. I
talked to my gurus, Late Bhaskaranandji and Late Satsaganandji Maharaj,
in my dream. I told them that the spirit of the king still roams around the
palace and pleads to me to liberate it by digging out 1,000 tonnes of gold
buried beneath his palace. My gurus laughed at me. I argued that it may
be nothing for them but it is a hidden treasure for the country. They finally
agreed with me and I wrote the letter to the Prime Minister," Sarkar told Mail
Today at his ashram in Doodhikagar in Fatehpur district.

Sitting on a mat under a peepal tree, Sarkar claimed that the king's spirit
would soon be liberated from the cycle of birth and death because his last
wish would be fulfilled. For the record, Rao Ram Baksh Singh, the king of
the area, was hanged to death by the British rulers during the revolt of 1857.

"Officials of the Archaeological Survey of India and the Geological Survey
of India started working here in the first week of this month. Since the
area is spread over 60 acres they failed to locate the point. Then I went
with them and pointed out the spot," Sarkar said.

"I have been asked to camp here because whatever is buried in the earth
actually belongs to the state government," said Suresh Babu. Sarkar, however,
is not bothered about who will take the gold. "The ASI may reach the point
where 1,000 tonnes of gold is buried, but they cannot touch the treasure
without the permission of my gurus. If at all they try to ignore my suggestion,
the gold will vanish from there," he claimed.

(The
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)

Robot suicide? Roomba turns itself on, climbs onto hotplate where it burns

The robot turned to ash after it scooted onto a hot surface at a family's
Kirchdorf, Austria, apartment. The family was devastated, mostly because
it almost burned down the building.

Was this the world's first robot suicide? A cleaning gadget could have become
the first device to kill itself after it "climbed" onto a kitchen hotplate and
burned to death.

Medical miracle as premature baby is delivered from brain dead mother

A team of doctors in eastern Hungary have successfully delivered a premature
baby from a woman who had been diagnosed as brain dead.

The baby was successfully delivered on the 27th week of pregnancy weighing
1.5 kilograms following a caesarean earlier this year, doctors at the
Debrecen Medical Hospital said.

The mother of the child had suffered a stroke while 15 weeks pregnant.
Medical staff kept the 31-year-old on life-support for three months after an
ultrasound revealed the foetus was showing normal signs of life.

Doctors said the woman's body functions had to be maintained exactly as
that of a normal pregnant woman while she was on life support. They gave
the mother a special diet and even played music. The woman's family visited
and spoke to the baby growing in her womb.

Five of the mother's organs, including her heart, liver and kidneys, have
been used to save the lives of four other people who were in need of transplants.

(Gauthier

French businessman heads to desert island to become first 'Web Robinson'

With solar panels, a windmill, a laptop, a tablet and two satellite phones –
Gauthier Toulemonde shows a new way to work

Have computer – and internet connection – work anywhere. So goes the cost-
cutting corporate human resources mantra.

Until six weeks ago, Toulemonde, a businessman, journalist and former
banker, was inclined to agree with the received wisdom that workers, given
the right equipment, can labour more or less anywhere.

Being adventurous as well as entrepreneurial, however, he decided to put
the theory to the test and at the same time fulfil a childhood dream of
living like a modern-day Robinson Crusoe.

"Who hasn't dreamed of going to a desert island, to get away from it all, to
go on an adventure. For me it was a childhood dream. When I'm big I'll
leave, I told myself, but as an adult obliged to work to live and subject to
the numerous constraints of modern life, I realised it was complicated," he
wrote in his blog.

It took six months to identify a suitable island, a 700-by-500-metre island
in the Indonesian archipelago (the Indonesians made him promise not to
reveal its exact location) 10,000 miles from Paris, and a few more months
to prepare.

On 8 October, he left his home in Lille with four towel-sized solar panels, a
windmill, a laptop computer, a tablet computer and two satellite phones.
He was also carrying two tents to protect him, and the equipment from the
humidity and the seasonal heavy rains. Gecko, a borrowed dog, "rented"
from a Chinese businessman came too to scare off local wildlife that included
rats and snakes.

He added, that the adventure was no holiday: "I had a business to run, and
had to deal with suppliers, banks, clients. The aim was to show I could do
this on my own from far away."

He woke at 5am daily and went to bed around midnight. For a change of
diet from the rice and pasta he had packed, Toulemonde fished in the sea
and rooted out vegetables.

In between, his company Timbopresse was able to publish two editions of
Stamps Magazine, to the same deadlines and with the same content.

"It was like being in quarantine for 40 days," he said. "It was good to get
away from modern life, to follow the rhythm of the sun and to live in the
closest possible contact with nature.

"There's always the risk that when you actually fulfil a childhood dream it
won't live up to what you expect. In this case far from it. I was extremely
happy. Every day was magical."

And there were also the, well, not so good. Quite apart from the rats and
snakes and the torrential rain and "terrifying storm" on his first night on
the island, there was the constant and terrifying fear of the internet being
cut off for lack of electricity or because the rats had got to the cables.

And, he was forced to admit, life can get a bit dull without someone to say
"bonjour" to every morning. Nothing can replace human contact."

Surgery ordeal follows beer superbug from Brisbane River

A SIMPLE sip of a beer during a fishing trip has caused Caboolture's John
Macdonald more than a year of hell, with no sign of relief.

In March last year he ventured out on to the Brisbane River for a fishing trip
with a mate when he dropped his beer in the water. Without a second
thought, he fished it out and continued to drink it.

Just a few hours later he was violently ill and has had to endure countless
hospital visits since to try and fix a large mass growing from his stomach.

Initially Mr Macdonald was operated on at Caboolture hospital after antibiotics
prescribed to him failed.

Instead of fixing him up, the situation worsened and he had to undergo
another surgery which also failed.

Mr Macdonald was transferred to Royal Brisbane Hospital for a third operation
which was deemed a success, however, he woke up with a large hernia-like
mass on his stomach which made him appear pregnant.

He said he was then told he would need further operations to fix the unusual
growth. On May 8 this year, Mr Macdonald was once again admitted for surgery
at the RBH to remove the mass, an operation he thought would be his last.

"They operated and I was left with a flat stomach," he said.

However his road to recovery was shortlived.

During recovery in June Mr Macdonald coughed and split his post surgery
stitches, a move which saw further drama unfold.

"When you can see what you had for tea you know something is wrong,"
he said. "On that day I knew it was back."

Mr Macdonald was admitted for surgery once more.

By July, Mr Macdonald said he was told he could go home but he was far from
fixed.

The large mass had returned but he said he was told by doctors that there
was nothing they could do for at least 12 months.

"I'm told we have to start the whole process again," he said.

Queensland Health declined to comment.

Woman who 'died' from cancer is heard screaming from inside coffin after
being buried alive

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/woman-who-died-cancer-heard-4329977#ixzz3ETVug1Si

Cemetery workers claim they heard a woman banging and shouting an
hour after being buried.

Cemetery workers raced to a newly-dug grave after they heard banging
and muffled shouting an hour after a 45-year-old woman was buried.

As they grabbed tools and anything they could find, they rushed to dig the
grave up again after the woman woke up to find herself buried alive in a
coffin.

But tragically, the un-named woman died before her would-be rescuers
could reach her inside the plot at a cemetery near Greece’s Thessaloniki.

Now police are probing why the woman was pronounced dead by doctors
treating her for cancer, only to be found alive.

Her grieving family arranged her funeral at the graveyard in Peraia, a small
town 16 miles south of Thessaloniki, Greece’s main city in the north.

Shortly after the last relatives left the cemetery on Thursday, residents
and a group of children playing outside reportedly heard a female voice
shouting for help from inside the grave.

They called the police, and began digging up the grave to save her but she
had suffocated to death inside the coffin, it was reported.

However, a doctor who was at the scene and examined the woman’s body,
said she had been dead for hours and could not have been revived.

Dr Chrissi Matsikoudi told Greek TV channel MEGA: "I just don’t believe it.
We did several tests including one for heart failure on the body.

"It would have been impossible for someone in a state of rigor mortis to
have been shouting and hitting the coffin like that.”

A coroner is expected to examine the body.

Meanwhile, relatives of the dead woman say they are considering filing a
complaint against the doctors responsible for her treatment at the cancer
clinic.
