變心企鵝 再愛上他
10年追纏管理員 隨後戀上公企鵝 老公病亡 對他重燃愛火

動物愛上人並不稀奇，但中途會變心、最後還重燃愛苗的例子可
能就不多見。這椿案例發生在德國南部明斯特（Munster）阿爾
衛特動物園（Allwetterzoo）。這段「高潮迭起」的戀情，始
於十三年前，一隻名為「珊蒂」（Sandy）的一歲非洲企鵝，正
從紐倫堡（Nuremberg）動物園轉過來。

德國《明鏡週刊》網站報導指出，來到新環境，奇怪的是，珊蒂
從不急著融入企鵝社群，整天就是追著管理員沃布拉特（Peter
Vollbracht）。現年四十七歲的沃布拉特說：「我覺得很有趣。
通常你都得戴著厚重的手套，以防被牠們的利嘴啄傷，但珊蒂會
坐在我的靴子或手臂上，只想要我摸摸牠。」

珊蒂的占有慾愈來愈強，沃布拉特說：「並不是我選了牠，是牠
看上我。我早上上班時，會發現牠在等我。每天例行的散步時間，
牠總會從企鵝群中擠出來，只想在我身邊。」

沃布拉特說，珊蒂對其他八十多隻企鵝可說是視而不見，「牠根
本不在乎其他企鵝，只把我當成牠的大企鵝」。

這段「不倫關係」對動物園可是好事，沃布拉特和珊蒂聲名大噪，
甚至上電視脫口秀、拍電影。

但接下來如同拍電影般，劇情急轉直下。二○○六年拍攝電影中途，
沃布拉特因病返家休養六周。重返工作崗位時赫然發現，珊蒂已
了變心。他說：「待在我臂彎十年後，如今牠已完全忘了我。」

原來，珊蒂愛上了一隻叫「湯姆」的年輕企鵝。沃布拉特形容，
起初他的感覺真的很怪，但「最終牠還是該過正常的企鵝生活。」

二○○八年，共組家庭的珊蒂和湯姆生下兩隻小企鵝，但湯姆稍後
因細菌感染死亡，珊蒂一人無法照料二子，於是兩隻小企鵝被送
進中途之家，珊蒂恢復單身。

沃布拉特說，湯姆死後，珊蒂對他似乎重燃愛火。於是珊蒂和
沃布拉特「復合」，再次合作在動物園中為遊客表演。

沃布拉特有些感嘆的說：「能『破鏡重圓』是很好啦，但我不可
能一輩子當牠的夥伴。但要幫牠找男伴也不容易就是了，最終作
決定的還是牠。」

Picky Penguin Gets Her Man Back

It's a common tale: Man meets penguin, penguin meets
man, they fall in love. A German zoo has witnessed a
bittersweet love affair between two very unequal partners.

"Old love never dies," the country song goes, "it just
fades away." Well, maybe so, but occasionally it comes
back, too. At least that's the case when it comes to an
animal keeper in the southern German city of Münster
and a penguin named Sandy.

This roller-coaster story of love started 13 years ago,
when a one-year-old African penguin was transferred
from a zoo in Nuremberg to the Allwetterzoo Münster.
But rather than integrating herself into the penguin
population, Sandy set her sights on her keeper. "At the
beginning," Peter Vollbracht, 47, told SPIEGEL ONLINE,
"we found it very funny. Normally you have to wear
thick gloves to handle these penguins because they have
really sharp beaks and can give you a good whack with
their wings. But Sandy" -- as Vollbracht named her --
"would just sit on my boot or arm and ask to be petted."

Still, at a certain point, friendliness turned a bit into
obsession. "There was nothing we could do about it,"
Vollbracht says. "I didn't choose her; she chose me.
When I would get to work in the morning, she would be
there waiting for me and call out to me. And when we
did our daily penguin march for exercise, she would always
jump to the front of the line to be next to me."

With Vollbracht around, Sandy completely ignored the
zoo's other 80-plus penguins. "She didn't care about
anyone else," Vollbracht says. "I was just her big penguin."

The atypical relationship was good for the zoo. Although
most penguins shun human contact, Sandy let Vollbracht
and others pet her. In addition to visiting schools, handicapped
children and retirement homes, Sandy and Vollbracht
made the rounds of Germany's leading talk and late-night
entertainment shows. Sandy also landed a couple of
parts in German films on her way to joining the top-tier
of beloved animals -- like Berlin's celebrity polar bear,
Knut -- in this animal-obsessed country.

But then everything changed.

'She Completely Wrote Me Off'

During the filming of a movie with Sandy in 2006, Vollbracht
got sick and had to stay home from work for six weeks.
But when he finally returned to the zoo, Sandy had found
someone else. "If their partner is gone for a few weeks,"
Vollbracht says of these primarily monogamous birds,
"they go back out on a partner hunt."

"After 10 years of having her on my arm," Vollbracht
says with a wistful sigh, "she'd completely written me
off." Sandy was now with Tom, a much younger penguin. "
At the beginning," Vollbracht says, "it was weird. But,
when all's said and done, it was better for her to lead a
normal penguin life."

And that's exactly what she did. In 2008, after a few
mating seasons of near misses, Tom and Sandy eventually
started a family of their own with two chicks. But this
September, Tom died of a bacterial infection. Since raising
two chicks was "too much for her to handle on her own,"
they were placed in a foster nest. And Sandy was single
again.

"After Tom died," Vollbracht says, "I came back to work
from vacation, and it was like she'd flipped a switch. She
was looking for someone, and I was there."

Now Sandy and Vollbracht are back together again and
pleasing the crowds with their daily shows of affection.
For Vollbracht, who has a wife and two children of his own
to worry about, it's a bittersweet reunion. "It's nice for
the zoo and to be followed around again," he says, "but
I can't stay her partner forever." But finding her someone
else might not be so easy, either. "We can't find her a
partner," Vollbracht says. "She chooses, and it's her
decision or nothing."

鸚鵡幫主人 走出憂鬱

一聽到「妞妞，親親」，鸚鵡「妞妞」便將紅喙湊上陳家嫻的嘴
唇。罹患憂鬱症二十餘載的陳家嫻說，「妞妞陪我走出陰霾，有
類似困擾的人不妨養隻鸚鵡試試。」

五十四歲的陳家嫻因為婚姻路坎坷，加上長子車禍腦部受重創，
身心俱疲的她得了憂鬱症，長期靠藥物控制，經常足不出戶，連
親友也不想搭理。

直到半年多前，陳家嫻買一隻月輪鸚鵡幼鳥，取名「妞妞」，居
然讓她重拾養小孩的歡樂。陳家嫻說，她視妞妞為孫女，跟牠聊
上個把小時也不厭倦，而且妞妞很貼心，總是專心聽她說心事。
羽翼漸豐的妞妞很黏陳家嫻，「阿婆」走到那裡，牠就跟到那裡，
夜裡「祖孫」還同房睡。

「原本不敢踏出家門的我，有妞妞相伴，終於走出來了。」陳家嫻
說，旁人看到妞妞依偎在她肩膀，都想多看幾眼、聊上幾句，
「我不再是個沒信心、不快樂的人。」

精神科醫師陳永興說，寵物治療可幫助病人釋放壓力、排解負面
情緒，雖然鸚鵡治療是第一次聽到，但他認為與「狗醫生」有異
曲同工之妙，相信對憂鬱症病人有很大幫助。

導聾犬 當主人耳朵

聰明可愛的小狗不僅討人喜愛，導盲犬、搜救犬更是人類好幫手。
但其實，狗狗的聽覺靈敏，只要加以訓練，便可為聽障者生活帶
來無限便利。

美國媒體日前報導，家住紐奧良的雷．多布森，就像許多聽力衰
退的人一樣，拒絕承認這個事實，因此不願出門，迴避所有朋友，
「妻子覺得我有點邊緣化。」多布森說。

但自從有了一隻名叫「頑皮鬼」的導聾犬幫助後，他的生活開始
改變。「牠能聽見我就算帶上助聽器、卻仍然聽不見的聲音。」
多布森說，「例如電話鈴聲、敲門聲以及別人叫我的聲音。」

導聾犬必須對至少八種聲音做出迅速反應，例如汽車喇叭聲、熱
水燒開的聲音等，當牠聽到這些聲音時，會積極提醒主人；主人
發生危險時，牠們還能吠叫請求幫助。

牠們也被訓練成能夠識別主人名字，多布森的妻子安妮指出，
「當我叫丈夫名字的時候，頑皮鬼會往他身上撲，直到他到我這
兒來。」

導聾犬不僅能提醒主人掉了車鑰匙，還能在人際關係上提供助益，
因為聽障並非看得見的缺陷，外人時常不懂此人為什麼對呼喚聲
不理不睬。

對聽障人士而言，導聾犬的陪伴讓他們擁有更多自由和獨立性，
多布森表示，「我以前從來沒有時間思考，因為我把所有時間都
花在努力『聽』上。」

自一九七六年來，美國輔助犬教育機搆已訓練一千三百多條狗成
為導聾犬。雖然從吉娃娃到德國牧羊犬都有，但導聾犬必須具有
某些特質，例如對聲音好奇、非常自信、活潑等。「導聾犬通常
是人們不想要的狗。」擔任二十年訓犬師的布萊恩說，「牠們極
度活躍、任性，甚至有點強迫症行為。」也因此，導聾犬大多來
自流浪動物收容中心。

九官鳥開口「對質」 物歸原主 2009/11/15

金姓男子八年前花一萬元，買了「三姑」、「六婆」兩隻九官鳥
當寵物，教牠們講話。日前「三姑」被偷，昨天他經過大肚鄉鳥
店時，發現一隻疑似失竊的「三姑」，報警後，雙方以人、鳥直
接對話「郎客來坐、買菜喔」，結果該隻九官鳥對答如流，讓鳥
店賣主折服，並吃上收售贓物罪。

住在台中縣龍井鄉的金男教三姑、六婆學講話，多年來牠們學會
「郎客來坐、買菜喔、我會講話」等語，成為家人的開心果。未
料，上月底三姑遭竊，六婆無伴後，終日鬱鬱寡歡，不再開口講
話、唱歌。

男主人除報警協尋外，亦經常到鳥店尋找失竊的三姑，昨天他經
過大肚鄉鳥店時，發現販售的九官鳥中，有一隻疑似他失竊的三
姑，可是後面的耳朵都被剪掉了。

為了確定該隻九官鳥是否三姑，他以「郎客來坐、買菜喔、我會
講話」測試，該隻鳥對答如流，在確定尋獲「三姑」後，立刻報
警。

警員到店時，鄧姓店主說，該隻九官鳥是兩周前向一名年約卅歲
男子，花五千元收購，並未登記對方姓名和資料。

為確定金男是九官鳥的主人，警員當場要金男與鳥直接對話，結
果三姑對答如流，讓鳥店主人啞口以對，除物歸原主，還吃上收
售贓物罪嫌。

莫札特的寵物鳥

根據莫札特的帳本記載，1784年，他曾經買了一隻歐掠鳥當寵
物，回家時驚訝地發現鳥兒哼起他剛剛作好的鋼琴協奏曲。

樂譜都還沒有出版，只有幾個學生見過，鳥兒怎麼會唱呢？莫札特
經常吹口哨，大概他光顧寵物店的時候，不經意地把旋律傳給了
那隻鳥，也可能是他的學生哼的時候被鳥兒學會了。

莫札特很疼愛這隻會唱鋼琴協奏曲的小鳥，三年後，在牠過世的
那個禮拜，他不僅為小鳥舉辦正式的喪禮，還為牠作了一首詩。

音樂學家翻閱關於莫札特的檔案時，一般對此小鳥事件不予理會，
而歷史學家只當這是莫札特不成熟的行為之一，直到兩位鳥類學
者把這個故事發掘出來。

各種傳記和文獻裡堆滿了關於所謂的「偉大成就」，然而，在研
究者眼中不起眼的瑣碎之事，卻往往最美麗動人。

對莫札特作品的喜愛，並不會因為讀了他的傳記而被影響多少，
然而關於他和歐掠鳥的故事，卻很容易教人愛上他的稚氣和小鳥

冷到不行 貓咪躲車底避寒搭便車跨州

華盛頓州奧林比亞近日氣溫降至零下，一名在當地工作的男子開
車回俄勒岡州，才發現車底躲了隻貓咪。為了避寒而躲到備胎上
方的小貓，跨州搭便車整整旅行了近200公里。

華盛頓州北部的奧林比亞（Olympia）最近幾天最高溫度約在攝
氏2度到4度，最低溫度則在零下1度至2度。

住家位於俄勒岡州土瓦勒廷（Tualatin）的李契（Marc Lichty）
在奧林比亞工作，9日開車回家途中在高速公路休息站停車時，
感覺車上好像有貓咪叫聲，卻沒有發現有貓。

直到他把車一路開回家之後，又聽到貓叫聲，由於已經天黑，只
好拿手電筒仔細尋找。果然李契在他的雪佛蘭休旅車底盤備胎上
方小空間，發現有隻小貓咪瑟縮躲著。

從奧林比亞到土瓦勒廷，他開了大約192公里（120英哩），平
均車速為112公里（70英哩），幸好這隻約3個月大的貓咪躲得
夠安穩，一路安然無恙。

小貓咪一直躲著不肯離開車子，最後是李契的女兒拿鮭魚來引誘，
才把貓咪引誘出來。

李契接受當地媒體訪問時說，貓咪可能是因為天氣太冷，才會跑
到他的車子裡避寒。

這隻貓咪沒帶項圈，帶到動物醫院檢查也發現牠並未植入晶片，
李契打電話給他工作地點附近的幾家公司尋問是否有人遺失貓咪，
都沒有找到貓咪的主人。

原本家中已經養有一隻貓與一隻狗的李契，決定把這隻又冷又餓
的小貓咪領養下來成為家庭寵物新成員。

動物保護機構俄勒岡人道協會（Oregon HumaneSociety）指
出，天氣寒冷的時候，常常有貓咪為了避寒而鑽進停在路邊的車
子引擎旁、引擎蓋底或任何車體縫隙

Kitten rides 120km in wheel well

OREGON - A man says a three-month-old kitten apparently
hitched a cold, 200km ride in the wheel well of his SUV.

Marc Lichty left Olympia, Washington, after finishing a
day of work. He heard meowing when he stopped at a
rest stop along the way home but couldn't see a cat,
KPTV-TV reported.

When he reached his home in Tualatin, Oregon, he heard
the meowing again and grabbed a flashlight. Sure enough,
he says, "the cat was up underneath in the spare tyre
spot".

Daughter Jenna helped coax the passenger out with a
bit of salmon.

Lichty says he can't imagine making that trip in the sub-
freezing temperatures.

The family called Olympia businesses in the area where
he was working but didn't find the kitten's owner. The
animal had no collar or microchip. The Lichtys say they'll
keep the kitten.

知更鳥 愛上光頭

知更鳥是英國冬天的傳統象徵，常被畫成插圖出現在賀卡上。英
國人約翰‧漢考克和同事們有一隻可愛的朋友，這隻知更鳥不但
每天陪伴他們吃飯，還對他的光頭「情有獨鐘」。

四十歲的漢考克是位園藝師，兩周前他和同事們開車進入位於伍
斯特的一個空地，這時一隻小知更鳥飛過來，落在卡車上。漢考
克說，在那之前，他已多次見過這隻小鳥。

「牠愈來愈溫溫馴。」當一隻野生的小鳥停在你手上，啄著你指
尖上的食物，這種感覺太美妙了。沒人會想到牠每天都來卡車裡
和我們一起享用午餐。他把小知更鳥吃午餐的畫面拍成視頻上傳
到YouTube網站。

The robin has befriended a group of Worcester City Council
workers, regularly greeting their van and hopping inside
their cab to share their lunch.

John Hancock, aged 40, senior arborist for the city council,
has filmed and photographed the robin which visits him
and his team every time they pull up at a Worcester yard.

For the last three years, the robin had landed on the
driver’s wing mirror as soon as the truck, driven by Mr
Hancock, pulls into the yard. He says that as soon as
the door is open, the robin hops inside the truck.

Video footage filmed by Mr Hancock and posted on You
Tube has already been viewed by more than 5,000
people. The three-man team, which does all the major
tree work for the council, feeds the robin crumbs, biscuits –
a particular favourite – and chicken nibblers, which he is
also very keen on.

Louise Pedersen, from the RSPB, said it is not uncommon
from robins to take food from people’s hands.

She added: “They are known as the gardener’s friend
and will often come up to people for food once they
have built up a relationship with someone.

“Robins are very territorial so it is very likely this is the
same bird each time who knows it is safe.

“I have never heard of a robin coming into someone’s
car for food though.”

孔雀噪音太大　佛州居民傷透腦 【12/25 22:01】

孔雀美麗的羽毛、高雅的姿態引人讚嘆，但當週遭出現一大群孔
雀時，可就不是一件令人值得開心的事。美國佛羅里達州西部外
海的一座小島龍布嶼（Longboat Key）居民，就深受孔雀之苦，
因為牠們不但會發出惱人噪音，還會恣意破壞家園，讓居民氣得
牙癢癢！

　根據媒體報導，由於孔雀在龍布嶼沒有天敵，因此近年來繁衍
迅速，為了避免孔雀擾民事件一再重演，當地政府被迫每年花上
2500美元，雇人把孔雀抓起來，送到農場吃害蟲。只是防不勝
防，孔雀繁衍速度顯然比政府手腳來的快，因為就有民眾直擊，
屋頂上曾一次出現30隻以上的孔雀，數量相當驚人。

　而除了龍布嶼以外，南佛羅里達的椰林市（Coconut Grove）
到卡納維爾角（Cape Canaveral），也接連傳出民眾抱怨孔雀
太吵案件，但對此，佛羅里達州漁獵暨野生動物管理局回應，由
於佛州把孔雀列為家禽而非野鳥，因此對民眾的抱怨愛莫能助。

LONGBOAT KEY - A recent increase in the peacock
population is ruffling the feathers of some island
residents. They say the birds are more than just a
nuisance -- the mess they leave behind is starting to
become a health hazard.

Last summer is when the birds started multiplying like
never before. That's when the flock of 12 surged to 60.
But even with the increase, Gerich thinks they should stay.

They can do quite a bit, tearing up gardens to pecking
at cars, many people who live in the area say the peacocks
are downright destructive. But those aren't the only problems
brought on by the birds.

"They do attract a lot of traffic and tourists and that's a
traffic hazard for a lot of us because people stop in the
middle of the road," Terry Noyes told FOX 13.

"I think there are way too many for a residential area
like this," she said. "Some people like them more than
others. My experience is that most of the people who
like them don't live right near where they congregate."

Members of the Longbeach Village Association agree
with her. They've hired a company to come in and catch
a good portion of the peacocks in hopes that a smaller
population will be more manageable for the people who
live near their nests.

澳洲豬仔放屁 引發瓦斯外洩虛驚

澳洲一隻寵物豬放屁，由於臭氣沖天，引發瓦斯外洩疑慮，
甚至驚動消防人員，結果最後發現只是虛驚一場。

這起烏龍發生在澳洲東部維多利亞省，當局出動兩輛消防車
及十五名消防人員，摸黑找尋外洩氣體源頭，雖然入夜一片漆黑，
但是因為臭氣實在太強烈，他們一點也不費力地，就揪出元兇，
原來是一隻重達120公斤的寵物豬。

消防隊長說，當這隻豬看到消防隊員出現時，顯得非常興奮，
進而導致牠繼續放出連環屁來，臭不可擋。

不過，消防隊長說，寵物主人發現有可疑異味，立即報警是
正確舉動。

Flatulent pig sparks gas leak alert

A flatulent pig triggered a minor emergency in Australia
when smells wafting from her farts sparked gas leak fears.

Two fire engines and 15 firefighters turned out in darkness
to search for the source of the 'leak' at Axedale, near
Bendigo, Victoria.

Eventually, the culprit - a 120kg pet sow - was identified,
reports the Melbourne Herald Sun.

Fire chief Peter Harkins said: "We got to the property
and we could smell a very strong odour in the vicinity.

"It didn't take us too long to work it out because we
could both smell and hear her.

"She got very excited when two trucks and 15 firies
(firefighters) turned up and she squealed and farted and
squealed and farted.

"I haven't heard too many pigs fart but I would describe
it as very full-on."

Mr Harkins said the family had done the right thing by
calling emergency services to report the suspected gas
leak.

貓頭鷹困3周 原來是玩具

英國消防隊員日前接到一名婦女的電話，說看到一隻「貓頭鷹」
被困在電線桿上長達數日，擔心牠性命不保，於是撥打電話求救。

接到電話的消防隊員馬上趕來營救「貓頭鷹」，就在消防隊員登
上雲梯快要摸到牠時，附近的居民趕過來向消防隊員解釋，這隻
不過是一隻塑膠貓頭鷹而已。

四十三歲的卡羅琳表示：「當時簡直不敢相信我的眼睛，來自皇
家防止虐待動物協會的那名婦女，當時坐在電線桿附近兩個多小
時，一直觀察著上面那隻「貓頭鷹」。可能她以為那隻貓頭鷹是
真的，還買了一隻網想來捕捉牠。我當時想要告訴她，這隻貓頭
鷹已經站在那裡三星期了。」

據卡羅琳指出，由於當地居民抱怨有鳥類經常將排泄物，大到居
民的轎車上，英國電信公司才想出；將一隻假貓頭鷹放置在電線
桿上，震懾附近的小鳥。

消防隊的發言人克萊爾無奈表示：這已不是我們第一次接到解救
玩具動物的電話了。

天天到車站 太郎痴等一輩子

日本澀谷車站前的狗雕像，是為紀念二次世界大戰前1隻在主人
死後，終其一生每天到車站等候主人回家的秋田犬「八公」，許\r
多觀光客都會特地到此一遊。「忠犬八公」不僅在日本傳為動人
佳話，曾在1987年拍成賣座電影，現在就連好萊塢也對這個賺
人熱淚的故事感興趣，推出西洋版的「忠犬八公」。無獨有偶的
是，茨城縣當地小學數十年前收養的流浪狗「太郎」，直到去世
前也是每天都會定時到附近車站報到，當地人都認為太郎是在等
候心愛的主人。多年後，太郎的主人果然出現，證實太郎一輩子
不曾忘懷曾短暫相處的小主人。

日走2公里 等累了才回校

據報導，茨城縣石岡市立東小學1964年收養的流浪狗「太郎」，
每天除了巡視校園、陪學童玩耍外，牠在早上及傍晚的固定時間，
總會走到2公里外的石岡車站，凝視穿梭在剪票口的乘客，像是
在等待某人出現，等累了才又循原路回到學校。該校師生及車站
附近店家都認為，太郎是到車站去等主人。

據說，太郎晚年仍持續到車站等人，直到年老體衰再也走不動為
止。1981年，太郎以約莫20歲的高齡去世，東小學全校還為牠
舉行追悼會，隆重下葬。

現年50歲的成島亮子去年輾轉聽說太郎的故事，又看到該校50
週年紀念冊上刊登的太郎照片，當下認出那是她小時候飼養的狗
兒「KORO」。原來，成島幼年時必須搭乘電車到石岡車站上幼
稚園，1963年來到成島家中的KORO，每天都會陪她到車站搭
車，傍晚再去接她回家。

幼主遭斥責 情急將牠趕走

不料，1964年某天，KORO陪她上了電車後，就一路跟著坐到
石岡車站，成島因而在到站時遭到站務員斥責，她一時情急將
KORO趕走，從此就再也找不到KORO。由於成島從幼稚園畢業
後，就沒到過石岡車站，所以也沒機會與痴痴等她的太郎相遇。

數十年來始終心繫走失愛犬的成島，得知太郎一生始終等著與她

主人天冷猝死　忠犬原地守7天7夜

狗真是人類最忠心的朋友！台南一名陳姓男子帶著愛犬「小花」
出門買東西，卻突然倒在店門口死亡，由於他身上沒有證件，警
方找不到他的家人。不過，警方發現，小花一直守在主人昏倒的
地方，連守了7天7夜，最後也靠著這個線索找到陳男的家人。

根據店家門口監視器畫面，一隻黑白斑的花狗在路旁走來走去，
牠不時東張西望、東聞西聞，心裡想的是為何主人還沒來帶牠回
家。小花在店門口苦等了7天7夜，在寒風中，牠被凍得直發抖，
卻還是不肯離開。商店老闆看了不忍，好心地拿東西給小花吃，
還準備了一個紙箱。老闆說，「那天好冷，我看牠一直在發抖，
我還拿一條毛巾給牠睡覺。」

但小花不知道，不是主人不要牠，而是主人已經過世。據了解，
主人陳男騎車帶著小花出門買東西，準備回家時忽然昏倒在停放
機車的地方，送醫急救後仍不治，由於他身上沒帶證件，警方根
本找不到他的家人。7天後，警方再回到事發現場，發現苦守的
小花，靈機一動連忙打聽誰看過小花。

員警指出，「我們在查訪過程當中，剛好那隻狗進出150巷的巷
子，所以我們研判，他應該住在裡面，有一間出租公寓。」根據
此線索，警方總算順利找到陳男的家人，送他走完最後一程。而
忠狗小花也被好心人收養，找到了另一個新家。

「英國廣播公司」（BBC）網站報導，專家在英國格洛斯特郡（Gloucestershire）
野禽保護區見證一起罕見的天鵝「離婚」事件，並表示非常訝異。

一對比維克天鵝（Bewick'sswans）回到瘦橋（Slimbridge）野禽與溼地基金
會（WildfowlandWetlandsTrust）中心過冬，但雙雙帶了新伴侶。

這是該保護區逾40年來第2起「離婚」事件。

工作人員形容這個重新配對的現象「極為怪異」。他們表示，有終生相伴習性的
天鵝，追求新伴侶並非空前之舉，但通常在另一半去世後。

研究人員40年來在瘦橋觀察4000對比維克天鵝，只有1對離異，轉而追求新伴侶。

公鵝沙林迪（Sarindi）從俄羅斯北極區遷徙回來，身旁的女伴卻不是結縭2年的
莎魯妮（Saruni），而與他相依相偎的母鵝後來被命名為莎琳德（Sarind）。
這個罕有的事件引發研究人員的疑心。

這對愛侶的出現，也讓保育人士擔憂莎魯妮是否已死亡。

然而不久後，莎魯妮回到溼地，身旁是新男伴蘇魯納（Surune）。專家觀察後
發現，上一段關係已結束，新戀情正在進行。

野生動物健康研究人員紐特（JuliaNewth）說：「這對天鵝在一起幾年來沒有
生出小天鵝，繁殖失敗可能是離異的原因。」

Experts stunned by swan 'divorce' at Slimbridge wetland

Experts have told of their surprise after witnessing a rare "divorce"
between a pair of swans at a Gloucestershire wildfowl sanctuary.

The Bewick's swans have returned to winter at the Wildfowl and
Wetlands Trust centre at Slimbridge - but both have brought new
partners.

It is only the second time in more than 40 years that a "separation"
has been recorded at the centre.

Staff have described the new couplings as "bizarre". It is not unheard
of for the birds, which usually mate for life, to find a new mate but
it tends to be because one of the pair has died, they said.

During the past four decades 4,000 pairs of Bewick's swans have
been studied at Slimbridge, with only one previous couple moving
on to find new partners.

First suspicions of the rare event were raised when male swan
Sarindi turned up in the annual migration from Arctic Russia without
his partner of two years Saruni and with a new female - newly-
named Sarind - in tow.

The pair's arrival led conservationists to fear the worst for Saruni.

But shortly afterwards Saruni arrived at the wetlands site - also
with a new mate, Surune.

And after observing them, the experts discovered the old relationship
had ended and new ones had begun.

Julia Newth, wildlife health research officer at Slimbridge, said the
situation had taken staff by surprise.She said swans tended to
have "real loyalties to one another" and long partnerships.

"As long as they are both still alive, they will try to stay together. If
they have a change of mate it is perhaps because of mortality, not
necessarily through choice," she said.

As for why they may have split, she said: "Failure to breed could
be a possible reason, as they had been together for a couple of
years but had never brought back a cygnet, but it is difficult to say
for sure."

Bewick's swans are the smallest and rarest of the three species
found in the UK and each individual can be identified by their unique
bill pattern.

美2隻貓熊返四川 聽不懂中文

　在美國出生的貓熊「泰山」、「美蘭」昨日搭乘專機，在全美電視觀眾的目
送下，送回四川成都。由於2隻貓熊只聽得懂英文指令，大陸工作人員正設法給
牠們補習，希望牠們趕快聽懂中文和四川話。

　繪有貓熊臉部特寫的聯邦快遞波音777專機，除了搭載第一隻在美國出生存
活的貓熊─泰山以外，還有另一隻陪牠回四川的美蘭──2006年在亞特蘭大動物
園出生。許多當地遊客冒著攝氏零下7度低溫依依不捨前往送機。載運泰山的專
車不但警車全程護送，連行車路線也對外保密；參與運送任務的「聯邦快遞熊貓
工作組」約400多人，一律穿著特製工作服。

　3歲貓熊已進入沉穩期，不過3歲的美蘭，昨天面對此起彼落閃爍的鎂光燈，
顯得有點焦躁，不斷的在大木箱裡面打轉；4歲的泰山則顯得害羞，本來躲在箱
子後頭，直到看見照顧牠的華盛頓動物園貓熊保姆，才走到箱子邊，讓保姆最後
一次餵牠吃水果，人熊離情依依。

　泰山回到四川隔離檢疫1個月後，雅安碧峰峽基地將讓泰山住進最豪華的1
號別墅，好趕快生個貓熊寶寶；美蘭則送到「成都大熊貓繁育基地」。

　美蘭和泰山不只是動物園明星，透過網路攝影機，千萬美國人看著牠們長
大，華盛頓對貓熊的感情更是深厚。1972年尼克森訪問中國後，大陸致贈玲玲
和興興，華盛頓國家動物園迎接第一對大貓熊，這對大貓熊在華盛頓住了20多
年，生了5隻小貓熊，全部夭折，泰山是華盛頓出生的小貓熊中，唯一存活長大
的，因此享盡眾多寵愛。
